• Why digital Pathology?

Digital pathology, also known as telepathology or Whole Slide Imaging (W.S.I.), is an advanced technique that involves the creation of high-resolution digital images from tissue sections prepared on traditional glass slides. In conventional pathology, these glass slides are examined directly under a microscope by pathologists as a crucial step in the diagnostic process. However, the advent of digital pathology has revolutionized this workflow by enabling the digitization of these slides into detailed images that can be stored securely on dedicated servers. These digital images can then be accessed and analyzed using computer monitors, offering pathologists the flexibility to conduct evaluations from remote locations. This capability not only allows pathologists to work from virtually anywhere but also facilitates seamless collaboration with colleagues, especially in cases where second opinions or specialized expertise is required.
